چکیده

Coral reefs are known as “tropical rain forests” in the ocean. Fish diversity is extremely high, accounting for one-third of marine fishes. To better protect and manage coral reef fishes, this study systematically compiled documents databases published China. We counted 2855 species fishes China, which belong to 3 classes, 41 orders, 252 families, 1017 genera. Among these, Perciformes was dominant order, 57.31% total species. Gobiidae (7.43%), Labridae (5.36%), Pomacentridae (4.52%), Serranidae (4.38%) were main while other families accounted less than 4%. Furthermore, 5.56% fish have entered IUCN Red List. The present found that can be divided into nearshore offshore. This mainly because more affected by human disturbance runoff from mainland, whereas offshore areas with high salinity temperature far where less. species’ had a significant positive correlation (p < 0.05), corals provide habitat shelter. first systematic compilation analysis China provides basic reference global protection management biological geographical analysis.

Spatial and temporal distribution of larvae of coral reef fishes in northern Red Sea, Egypt

The larval community of coral reef fishes in the Red Sea was studied in coastal and offshore sites to determine the effects of the exposure to waves and currents and the distance from the shore in structuring the larval fish community. Plankton sampling from inshore and offshore sites and the exposed and sheltered sides of the reefs resulted in the collection of 2048 larvae representing 49 diff...

Distribution of coral reef fishes along a coral reef–seagrass gradient: edge effects and habitat segregation

Coral reefs and seagrass beds are often located adjacent to one another, but little is known about the degree to which their fish communities are interlinked. To determine whether coral reef fishes on the coral reef are interlinked with or segregated from fishes on adjacent seagrass beds, a 60 m coral reef–seagrass gradient was studied on the island of Zanzibar in the western Indian Ocean. Usin...

Ecomorphology of Feeding in Coral Reef Fishes

Once an observer gets past the stunning coloration, surely no feature inspires wonder in coral reef fishes so much as their morphological diversity. From large-mouthed groupers, to beaked parrot fish, barbeled goatfish, long-snouted trumpet fish, snaggletoothed tusk fish, tube-mouthed planktivores, and fatlipped sweet lips, coral reef fishes display a dazzling array of feeding structures. And, ...

The role of cryptobenthic reef fishes in coral reef trophodynamics

An examination of the trophic status of a cryptobenthic reef fish community from the central Great Barrier Reef was carried out to evaluate the potential role of cryptobenthic fishes in coral reef ecosystems. Using frequency of occurrence data, dietary analyses revealed a diverse range of trophic groups, although detritivory (in 10 out of 16 species and 39.3% of individuals) and carnivory (5 of...
